Genetic parameter and genetic trend estimates for reproductive traits of jersey breed in Ethiopian highland environment

Data collected from Jersey herd in the central highland environment of Ethiopia was used to estimate genetic parameter and trend analysis for reproductive/fertility traits. Totally, 11,933 reproductive records recorded during last 30 years were analysis. Traits studied NSC (number service per conception), DO (days open), CI (calving interval), AFC (age at first calving) AFS service). Genetic phenotypic parameters (heritability, repeatability, correlation estimated breeding values individual animal) by using WOMBAT software package, version (2020) fitting a multi trait animal model. trends calculated regression average values/phenotypic each on birth years. The heritability NSC, DO, CI, 0.01, 0.08, 0.04, 0.09 respectively while corresponding repeatability 0.11 0.14, without AFS. correlations all positive range between 0.99 CI. Phenotypic also ranges 0.16 (AFS-CI) 0.98 (AFC-AFS). based favorable direction found be -0.002, -0.82 day, -0.6 -0.002 month month, whereas -0.05, 0.93 0.81 3.2 months 2.4 months, which are unfavorable undesirable most As monitored present study, performance cows somewhat effects but larger environmental components total value.
